A lot more photos are posted in the photo album on The Good Samaritan Center’s Facebook page!
Four members of the Fishing River Running Club (plus an extra friend) crossed the Grand Canyon, a 31-mile trip that began at the south rim of the Canyon, descended to the very bottom then climbed back up to the north rim.
Russell Wenz blogged about the group’s trek at http://russellwenz.blogspot.com/2015/10/grand-canyon-r2r.html. His blog post was featured across a two-page spread in the Excelsior Springs Standard newspaper (sorry, no link available).
Here are some photos from the trek:
Fishing River Club members Jody and Linda Pasalich, Don Ledford and Russell Wenz crossed the Grand Canyon in a 31-mile rim-to-rim adventure.
Beginning their trek at 5 a.m.: Russell Wenz, Carlos Rodriguez, Don Ledford, Linda Pasalich, Jody Pasalich
The finish line, 31 miles and 12 hours later: Russell Wenz, Carlos Rodriguez and Don Ledford ran R2R together.
Don Ledford was the clumsy one.
WARNING: DO NOT attempt to hike from the canyon rim to the river and back in one day. Each year hikers suffer serious illness or death from exhaustion.
